Joop Zoetemelk
Joop was known for his quiet, unassuming character and his enormous perseverance. He was a rider with rock-solid fitness, an unerring sense of tactics and unparalleled consistency. These qualities earned him the nickname ‘The Eternal Second’, due to his many places of honour in grand tours. We thought a nicer nickname was ‘Monsieur Tour’, which is why we have given this cycling shirt this name.
Today, Joop lives with his wife Françoise in France, where he has settled since the 1970s. The new shirt, designed by REDTED, is a tribute to his historical achievements and his undeniable role in cycling history. ‘Monsieur Tour’ is not just a cycling shirt, but a piece of cycling history that celebrates the legacy of Joop Zoetemelk.
With this shirt, we pay tribute to a true legend, who inspired generations of cycling fans and is still a source of pride for the Netherlands and the international cycling world.
